Start with the decision, then choose the inputs.
A good calculator answers a specific question: what might this cost, which package fits, or how much time could this save? Use Number blocks for quantities and Choice blocks for options. Give each input a name that makes sense without an explanation from you.
- Set sensible defaults and input ranges.
- Show important assumptions next to the inputs.
- Use a slider for exploration and a number input for precise amounts.
Build the calculation where the result lives.
Add a Result and choose the values and operators in its Formula field. Use parentheses to control the order. A calculated value can be reused by another Result, so you can show a subtotal and a total without duplicating the calculation.
Make adjustments understandable.
Conditional adjustments can apply a discount when a quantity reaches a threshold. The result shows the base amount and the applied adjustment. For a multi-select choice, selected numeric values are added together before the formula uses them.
Share the calculator, not your working document.
Preview the calculator on desktop and mobile, then publish it to a hosted link. Visitors can change inputs without an account. Later edits stay in the draft until you publish changes. PageClay does not process payments or turn an estimate into a checkout.
